A very "Romantic" Two weeks...

Family party, date night, self made STD, Engaged Encounter.... just how every couple wants to spend their first week after eight months apart right? Well that is what we had to do starting the day after our engagement. But first...

Being engaged on a Thursday we went out to celebrate with ourselves and I took Mr. FMB to a "man heaven" also known as Redbones. I may never understand why eating meat off of a bone is so satisfying to men.... but lets say I made him very very happy with the left over ribs platter.

That weekend we had what was our "formal" engagement party three hours away in my hometown. My family was very excited and of course everyone wanted to see the ring and ask questions about England. A "small" party is never small when nearly 40 of your relatives live close by. We received a gorgeous set of Waterford champagne flutes (to be use at the wedding for our first toast of course!)

Back to Boston where we decided to have a nice date night out together. We read reviews, read the menus and decided on a five course tasting menu downtown at Radius. In typical FMB fashion we were sitting around till an hour before where we jumped up and both frantically began getting ready and showering. It was this exact time that Dad FMB decided to call and check in on us. I quickly gave him the dish on our dinner plans and had to go to get ready.

An hour later we sat down to a dinner and were served complimentary champagne. The staff kept looking at us and talking but we figured it was because we were dressed so nice... and Mr. FMB had told them it was our engagement. The host walked over and asked if I knew a "Mr. FMB (my dad)" of course I said yes and he stated that dinner was taken care of. Awesome engagement present FMB Dad! For the note the seven course tasting menu with wine was absolutely amazing and still Mr. FMB says it was his best meal ever.

A few days later we had to go to our Engaged Encounter weekend (the only possible time we were together in the same country for one) and then Mr. FMB was back to England. But just before he departed we were able to get out our STDs as so many of our guests would be traveling.

Using a self taken picture and walmart.com we were able to send out 100 STDs for less than $85 including postage. With all of the wedding expenses to come we were proud to do this ourselves. How does it look?

Did you take time to celebrate your engagement? Was your party just friends and family or one of the big fancy ones on TV?
